What to Do When You Have a Long Layover at Pearson International Airport

Pearson International Airport is the busiest airport in Canada and the main hub for Air Canada. This means that whether you’re traveling domestically or internationally, there’s a chance you’ll end up with a layover at this airport. Here are some things you can do to kill time while waiting for your next flight.

Layovers that are less than six hours:

If you have less than six hours to wait, you’ll want to stay in the airport. Luckily, there’s lots to keep you occupied.

• Eat a meal: There are plenty of eateries in the airport where you can grab a bite. Try a smoked meat sandwich from Caplansky’s, Japanese food from Acer or a unique sandwich from Fetta.

• Do some shopping: From standard duty-free shops offering souvenirs, books and magazines to high-end boutiques selling designer brands, there’s lots to peruse at Pearson while you wait.

• Work out: If nothing makes you feel better than a workout, you’re in luck. Goodlife Fitness has a large facility at the airport (it includes a locker room and showers so you can freshen up before you board your next flight). You can even rent workout clothes if you don’t feel like unpacking your bag.

• Check out the art: Pearson has a permanent collection of works by international artists and a number of rotating exhibits on display.

If you have more than six hours:

For layovers that last more than a few hours, why not leave the airport and explore the city? Stow your luggage at one of the secure storage facilities in either terminal and head out. Whether you want to ride to the top of the CN Tower for a view of the city or stop for a beer at one of the many local breweries, you’re certain to find something fun to do.

To explore the city in style, forget public transit and hire one of the executive taxis from Airflight Services’ luxury fleet. We’ll ensure that you see what Toronto has to offer and get you back to the airport in time for your next flight.
