Celebrate Thanksgiving in Toronto

If you’re planning on being in the GTA for Thanksgiving long weekend, there’s no shortage of things to do. From the moment you arrive at Pearson Airport and jump into your taxi or limousine, to the moment you head back home, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Harvest festivals

Corn mazes. Hay rides. Pumpkin picking. Wholesome eats. Many farms a mere stone’s throw from central Toronto host fun and lively harvest festivals. Southbrook in Richmond Hill, Springridge in Milton and Whittamore’s in Markham are all good choices that can be accessed directly from Pearson Airport by taxi or limo service.

Fall colours

Crisp cool air and the vibrant colours of autumn are everywhere within the GTA. However, there are a number of sweet spots where you can really soak up the very finest of the season. Here are a few notable mentions.

  • Bluffer’s Park located within the Scarborough Bluffs provides visitors beaches, nature trails and beautiful views of the lake.

  • Toronto Island. Take a ferry across, the pedestrian tunnel or a flight right into Billy Bishop Airport. Lovely walks and a view of the city skyline beckon.

  • Discovery Walks in the Don Valley Parkway provide a series of interlinked nature trails right within the heart of the city.

  • High Park overlooks the lake and Grenadier Pond. Hiking trails, gardens, picnic tables and even a small zoo are onsite.

Thanksgiving cruise with brunch

Jubilee Queen Cruises is offering a luxurious brunch aboard its fabulous riverboat on Thanksgiving morning. A lunch is also available the day prior.

Woodbridge Fall Fair

A country fair in Vaughn that includes live music, a petting zoo and a cow-milking contest. Eats and treats as well as midway rides are also part of the fun.

Apple picking

Numerous farms around the city offer apple picking, freshly baked apple pies and other delicious treats. A lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Museums, shows and more

Of course, in addition to all the festive events Toronto still has its regular entertainments on offer. Countless museums, galleries, musical shows, comedy venues, live theatre, amazing restaurants, clubs, shopping, festivals and more are all within reach. Landmarks like the CN Tower and Casa Loma will have Thanksgiving themed events on offer. There’s never a shortage of things to see, do and taste in the GTA.
